Alex Johnson

Hi! I’m a senior studying Public Policy and French with an Ethics certificate. I chose these majors because I’m interested in how policy decisions are made from the local community to international level. I also think there’s a lot of room in government for improvement, social justice, and more equity. I’m not sure what I’m doing next year, but I think that’s okay right now.

L's Taken

"Thank you for applying but..."

Things I thought I'd finish but never did

  • Organizing my files and Google Drive

  • So many postcards

  • A journal about time during Covid

  • A research project

  • The readings for some of my classes

Everyday L's of life

  • When my dog poops, and I’m out of bags

  • Running out of eggs in the fridge

  • When I want to go on a walk, but it’s pouring rain

  • Homework taking way longer than I thought it would

  • Being tired

  • Not being motivated

On the Bright Side

Memories I made when I wasn't working/studying

Things I've learned that will still matter in 10 years

  • I am stronger than I think

  • There’s always something new that I can learn no matter how old I get

  • People come in and out of my life, and there isn’t always a why. It’s normal.

  • It’s okay to cry.

  • Everyone has a different perspective. Listen and try to understand how they see the world.

  • Sometimes meeting new people is just about putting yourself out there in a social setting.

  • What other people think doesn’t matter; in fact, they’re probably worried about the same thing.

  • Don’t take anything for granted.

  • Always have a pet... they rock.

  • Check-in with someone different once a day, whether you know them well or not. They’ll probably appreciate it.
