Yasha Kulkarni

My name is Yasha Kulkarni and I'm currently a senior at Duke majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Chemistry! In my free time I like to play Mario Kart with my brothers, play the Indian flute, or just spend time outside with friends on a nice sunny day.

L's Taken

"Thank you for applying but..."

Things I thought I'd finish but never did

  • Bridgerton

  • Any book that I have started in the past two years

  • The last bite of a cookie (someone usually beats me to it)

Everyday L's of life

  • Walking around with one airpod in because the other one doesn't work

  • Forgetting an umbrella on a rainy day

  • Making eye contact with an acquaintance and both of you don't know whether to say hi or not

  • Forgetting if you locked your car or not so you have to go back to make sure you did

On the Bright Side

Memories I made when I wasn't working/studying

  • Walking around campus before big basketball games to see if we can spot any famous people

  • Spending hours in WU and having friends come and go

  • Playing board games during dance practices

  • Climbing to rooftops of different buildings on campus

  • Dancing at Cameron Indoor Stadium during halftime at a basketball game

Things I've learned that will still matter in 10 years

TV shows, movies, and books I've enjoyed

  • When Breath Becomes Air

  • The Happiness Project

  • New Girl

  • Call Me By Your Name

  • Elite

  • Money Heist

Things I'm proud of that you won't see on my resume

  • How many boxes of Honey Bunches of Oates I have gone through the past three years (I eat it every morning!)

  • Food combos that I created

  • Having listened to my top song (Waves of Blue) on Spotify 510 times last year

  • Waking up at 8:15 almost every day for the past year

  • Getting validation for my music choices when I'm on aux

Things I want to get better at

Things I'm looking forward to in the future

  • Spend more time cooking

  • Traveling to different cities to visit friends

  • Start exercising regularly (hopefully!)

  • Living a more independent life

Small joys in my life

  • Running into my friends on BC plaza

  • Buying cookies, or anything sweet, and sharing with friends

  • Going to dance practice and spending half the time talking rather than dancing

  • Admiring the greenery of the trees on campus right after it has rained

Obstacles I have overcome

Things I've done that pushed me out of my comfort zone

Failures that seemed like the end of the world back then but don't matter in hindsight

Ways I take care of myself

Unconventional skills
